When you’re going to be unavailable for a set amount of time, set a delegate to perform tasks on your behalf. The named delegate temporarily inherits the permissions of the delegator during the delegation period without needing to have any security permissions changed ahead of time.

Set your delegate
- Open your user profile
- Select "Delegation"
- Click "New delegation period"
- In the dialog box, select a date range for the delegation and the user you’d like to delegate your tasks to
- Click "Save changes"
Your delegate will receive an email notification about the upcoming delegation and an email on the day the delegation begins.
Note: You can set multiple delegation periods and assign them to different users, but the set dates cannot overlap.
End your delegation
Your delegation will automatically end on your selected end date. At that point, your delegate will no longer be able to perform tasks on your behalf.
You can end your delegation early by doing one of the following:
- Click End delegation period in the blue bar at the top of your screen.
OR
- Open your user profile
- Select "Delegation"
- Click "Cancel delegation"
Extend your delegation
If you need to extend the date range for an active or upcoming delegation, do the following:
- Opening your user profile
- Select "Delegation"
- Click "Change end date" on the delegation you’d like to extend
- Select a new date and click "Save changes"
Understand if a delegation was set on your behalf
Users with the appropriate permissions have the ability to see and manage delegation periods for all users and can therefore set one on your behalf in the event of an unexpected outage or if you forget to set one yourself.
If a delegation period has been created or modified by another person, this will be indicated alongside the delegation information.
